Kuro Tarangire, located by the lifeline of Tarangire.

Kuro Tarangire is set amid a grove of Acacia and Kigelia trees on the banks of the Tarangire River - often a dry, sandy course snaking through this quiet area of the park.  The area sees the rhythmic movement of wildlife as it traverses the park from the hills in the west to the swamps on the eastern side, and between the north and the south along the river line.

Conscious of wanting to experience this place in a way that harmonizes with the natural tempo, without overpowering it, Nomad Tanzania has created a camp with a light footprint.  Having said that, like all the lodges and tented camps we recommend, Kuro Tarangire offers ultimate luxury with each tent rests amongst the beautiful accacia trees with views over the African bush.

The rooms:
Each of the six spacious room are decorated in really lovely earthy tones with pops of orange that make the rooms so inviting. Notice the details - most of the items in the room, like the poof, the mats, the wood-work; this is done by local artisans from around the area to different parts of Tanzania.

There is a solid door wooden door to enter the room instead of a tent zipper which adds a nice touch to the room. Once you step in, you are flooded with light as the room has huge canvas windows which you close with a curtain at night - or if you are like me - keep one or two open so you can wake up to the first light in the morning.

The room have comfy beds with en-suite bucket shower and flushing eco-toilte. Tarangire National Park remains warm to hot year round which means if you want to indulge in a cold ‘outdoor’ shower in the afternoon - or evening if you are brave - you have the luxury of chosing. Each tent rests amongst the trees with views over the African bush.

The tents face Silale swamps where you may see elephant herds coming in to dip. Impalas are often seeing tending to the grass around the room and many birds sing in chorus to keep them company. You will have a prime view from your private deck to enjoy this scene unfolding.

Meals are shared under the cool grass thatch of the open-sided lounge and dining area which is furnished with hides and canvas, brought to life with a touch of colorful and tactile textiles.
