Northern Serengeti Lodges ::
July to November - enjoy this less visited area in Serengeti

Klein's Camp

Set on the edge of Kuka Hill outside the Serengeti National Park boundary.
Klein's concession accommodates a maximum of 20 camp residents, in every sense the ultimate private Tanzanian Safari. The rooms built of natural stone structures with thatched roof have a elegant inside of wood floor, Persian rugs, large comfortable bed with luxurious covers, and of course, the best views of the valley from your private verandah. The bar area with large fluffy couches with a fireplace in the center of the room offers panoramic views of the area.

Klein's Camp commands beautiful views of the valley through which pass 2 million migratory herds of wildebeest and zebra and with them, the predators. The majestic elephant rules the Northern Serengeti landscape with numbers unequalled anywhere else in the Serengeti. Because the camp is built outside the park boundary's night drives and walking Safari are available through Klein's Camp.

Sayari Camp [Mara River]

Sayari Camp is an intimate tented camp of 8 guest tents. Sayari is Kiswahili for universe/planet, capturing the vast plains and endless skies in which the camp is immersed. Each of the beautiful spacious tents are originally designed and are equipped with its own private verandah overlooking the vast Serengeti that is spread out before you. Inside the tent, king-size beds [twin's available] give the tent a homely feel.

Central to the camp are the dining tent and lounge, where drinks are served and safari stories are shared. The lounge tent welcomes you to completely relax, sipping on your drink while looking out over the Serengeti, reading a book or discussing the adventures of the day. A sea of cushions, a wide range of quality drinks and snacks and a wealth of books make this a place where you can easily loose track of time. Dining is intimate in the dining area, but can also be enjoyed privately under the millions of stars in the Serengeti sky.

This unspoilt area is a spectacular wildlife destination. The Tanzanian Mara River area is one of the greatest secrets of Africa, with large concentrations of animals year-round - like the Maasai Mara on the Kenyan side of the border, but without the vehicles: at the moment, Sayari Camp is the only (semi)permanent establishment in a wide area. Due to the limited traffic in the area, off-road game-driving is possible in some of the best game-driving areas around the camp.

The Migration usually roams around in the area from mid July to November, and in this time frame lucky guests could get to see the famous Mara River crossings of wildebeest. Outside the Migration season, there is still plenty to see: the area hosts many resident cats, elephants, resident zebra and wildebeest, herds of topi and less known animals such as the bat eared fox. The river is the territory of hippo and crocodile year round.

Serengeti Migration Camp

Built very discreetly on kopjes and wooded acacia trees, Migration Camp is located in the North Central Serengeti, overlooking the hippo filled Grumeti River. This recently renovated lodge (sister lodges include Arusha Coffee Lodge and Tarangire Tree Lodge) has 20 luxury tented lodges as well as one honeymoon suite that has its own private jacuzzi pool. The spacious rooms have a luxurious feeling to them. All of the comfortable white linen lined beds with modern facility tents have a verandah oriented westwards towards the spectacular Northern Serengeti sunset.

Serengeti Migration Camp is best from July to November when the migratory animals are around this area and Masai Mara in Kenya. Resident wildlife of lions, leopard, and cheetahs have the company of the Serengeti migratory animals, the wildebeest and zebra during July to November. During this time, the wildebeest and zebra are either going to Mara (around July/August) or coming back to the Serengeti (around November/ December). This of course can fluctuate depending on the rainfall. And then you have the resident hippos who will not let you forget they are there with their grunting or the baboon always on the look out for left over from your verandah. Elephants are also plenty in Northern Serengeti where they reside in the wooded forest.
